Pianist, conductor and composer will present an intimate recital combining Baroque and Classical repertoire, Debussy and original works influenced by his childhood in Rio de Janeiro

LEEUWARDEN, Netherlands — October 7, 2026 — Pianist, conductor and composer Eddy Grossenstein will present his “A la Antique” piano recital in Leeuwarden on Thursday, October 22, bringing an intimate concert format inspired by the atmosphere of musical performances from the era of Bach to Beethoven.

The recital will begin at 8:00 p.m. at Vrije Evangelische Gemeente, Zuidvliet 14, 8921 BL Leeuwarden.

“A la Antique” is built around a close relationship between performer and audience. Alongside the musical program, Grossenstein engages with attendees in conversation about music, composition and the music industry, creating a concert setting that goes beyond a conventional stage performance.

The recital will feature music from the Baroque and Classical periods, a section dedicated to Debussy, and original works by Grossenstein in an Easy Listening style, with musical influences connected to his childhood in Rio de Janeiro.

The program also features Grossenstein's distinctive acrylic piano, equipped with technology based on an instrument associated with Elton John. The unusual instrument is part of the visual and musical character of his recital performances.

For the Leeuwarden audience, tickets are €13 with no booking fees. Each ticket includes a complimentary digital album, as well as entry into a prize draw for original sheet music personally dedicated to two audience members.

Grossenstein's musical background extends across performance, conducting, composition and recording. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began studying piano with professional musicians as a child and performed concerts from an early age. He later studied composition with Hans-Joachim Koellreutter, a pupil of Paul Hindemith and mentor to Brazilian musicians including Antonio Carlos Jobim and Caetano Veloso.

He earned his degree at the Chopin Conservatory in Warsaw, Poland, where he studied on a five-year scholarship. His career has also included conducting, with experience as principal of the Sinfonietta of Madrid, alongside work in classical music, film and audiovisual scoring, collaborations in popular music and the composition of Easy Listening and Ambient Music.

His recital concept reflects his broader approach to live performance: combining established classical repertoire with his own compositions while creating opportunities for audiences to interact directly with the artist.

The Leeuwarden performance is part of Grossenstein's European concert activity, with performances also scheduled in other Dutch cities.
